All of us have pasts. Even little babies have pasts. Not everyone has a future, but everyone has a past. The life we’ve already lived often times brings both the good and the bad. Throughout our lives we will constantly be talking about our pasts. Many discussions have been had about pasts, and here’s some of my favorite quotes about pasts:
-†-
Mark Twain said: “The past may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme”
-†-
“No man is rich enough to buy back his past.” –Oscar Wilde
-†-
“One faces the future with one’s past.” –Pearl S. Buck
-†-
“I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” –Thomas Jefferson
-†-
“Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.” –Paul Boese
-†-
“You can never plan the future by the past.” –Edmund Burke
-†-
“He who spends time regretting the past loses the present and risks the future.” –Quevedo
-†-
“The present is never our goal: the past and present are our means: the future alone is our goal. Thus, we never live but we hope to live; and always hoping to be happy, it is inevitable that we will never be so.” –Blaise Pascal
-†-
“The past went that-a-way. When faced with a totally new situation, we tend always to attach ourselves to the objects, to the flavor of the most recent past. We look at the present through a rear view mirror. We march backwards into the future.” –Marshall McLuhan
-†-
“The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.” –Lesley Poles Hartley
-†-
Those hurts that are in the past seem to be forgotten, but really, they’re still there. “Time heals all wounds” is not true. It simply makes scabs.
Has anyone else noticed that the second time something happens that has happened before in your past, it hurts a lot worse??
