(I’m swearing off men. I’ve decided that I must do whatever it takes to simply get rid of the pesky desires to have a significant other and a family. Now I know there’s nothing wrong with them, and I know that they are God-given, but because I am so incredibly sinful, I can’t handle it. I simply get too distracted and give them far more emphases than they need. Then I neglect my relationship with God, or worse, when I talk to Him it’s all I talk about. Which is NOT good. And so I really am not glorifying Him with it. Thus, it has to go.)
All this is to preface my list that I made last night, telling myself why this is a good thing.
Singleness is great because:
1. You can spend more time just with Jesus
2. You have tons of things that you want to do, now you have time for them!
3. You love your last name. Now, you don’t have to change it!
4. You can be the babysitter for all your married friends–after all, you’ve got lots of free time.
5. More time for ministry!
6. You don’t have to ask anyone if you can go on weekend trips or to concerts.
7. You can spend your money how you want to. Eg, buying that camera.
8. Guy friends!
9. You don’t have to look pretty for anyone!
10. It will be hard. But it’ll teach you tons about how Jesus is enough for all your needs.

Especially #10. I know from experience that there are hard things about being single. I know from looking around that there are hard things about being married. But Jesus really is enough.
And we might not be around here that long, anyway…
